Spruce up your tableware this spring

The weather in Britain may not be the best in March and April (or even May!) but it’s the time of year when the clocks go forward, the days get longer and, for many, the time has come for a good spring clean. It’s the perfect opportunity to clear away a lot of that junk from your kitchen and living room and order some new tableware – and here at Yours Sustainably (http://www.yoursustainably.com), we definitely have no shortage of that in amongst our other eco friendly gifts.

For your next dinner party, consider helping not only yourself, but also the environment and many people around the world who do not enjoy the luxuries that you do. Yours Sustainably is all about positive consumerism, as demonstrated by a set of worldwide suppliers of some of the very best earth friendly products – and our tableware is no exception. Whatever product for your kitchen, living room or dining room table you can think of, chances are that we have one in stock that is of a high quality while also signifying a social awareness on your own part when you buy it.

Let’s assume that you need a jug, for example – yes, we have no shortage of those, like the Relationship Jug or Garden Jug. These appealing china jugs are available courtesy of the social enterprise Arthouse Meath, which gives adults living with severe epilepsy and learning difficulties the chance to flaunt their artistic talents and skills. The blue and white Garden Jug, for instance, features various garden related images, including butterflies, bugs, flowers and birds, while the black and white Relationship Jug depicts a couple in the countryside alongside a list of the things that bring them happiness. Looking inside the jug gives you details about the artist.

Many people also find themselves needing to stock up on cups from time to time, and we can answer that need, too, with a set of two Franjipani floral cups that have been hand-painted by Kashmir artisans. So versatile are they that they not only make good cups, but can also be used as vases, toothbrush holders or storage for pens. They are made from foodsafe CAT65 certified stainless steel. The supplier, Nkuku, specialises in the creation of various handmade eco products using natural and recycled materials, also including Eva painted cups featuring bright Indian colours and an endearing bird motif.

We also source great tableware from suppliers closer to home, however, including a set of four square coasters from the Cornwall-based product design and manufacturing company, A Short Walk. These coasters take pride of place among the rest of our sustainable gifts here at Yours Sustainably (http://www.yourssustainably.com), being made in the UK out of recycled vending machine coffee cups. The same supplier also offers rectangular placemats and combo placemat sets, further demonstrating that if you need certain ethical tableware, we’ll almost certainly have it somewhere in stock!
