Transporting palletised goods over long distances? Don't forget that stretch wrap

Here at Simpson Packaging (http://www.simpson-packaging.co.uk), we're proud of our record of helping companies like your own to pack and transport goods so much quicker, safer and more cost-effectively. So many of our packaging materials help to do that, such as our cartons,  adhesive tapes and strapping but there's also a certain polythene product that is invaluable to so many firms... stretch wrap.

Stretch wrap might seem quite self-explanatory - it's a plastic film that can be stretched, enabling it to be wrapped around the curves and contours of items. The elasticity of the stretch wrap means that the items are kept tightly bound, so it's unsurprising to see it used so widely throughout industry for the storage and transportation of palletised goods. It would be almost inevitable having multiple items on a pallet that weren't secured together slide around en route to their destination, resulting in damaged or even possible loss.

You might think that your items are sufficiently protected by their own packaging, but all too often, the outer packaging of palletised loads can be severely compromised, and the contents subsequently ruined due to movement and impact or even adverse weather conditions like wind and rain as can be encountered on route or during the loading and unloading process. Your products should always reach your distributor or customer in perfect condition, as even only the occasional incident of physical damage eats into your profitability and can cause your company reputational harm.

The beauty of stretch wrap is that it's such a simple and affordable, yet effective way of tackling these problems. By wrapping stretch wrap around your palletised items, load handling from warehouse to customer or distributor is much more efficient. Above all with the items bound together securely by stretch wrap, there is little risk of products being compromised during the storage and distribution process resulting in a better operation overall.

Our extensive range of stretch wrap available here at Simpson Packaging removes the need for you to turn to any other packaging supplier, whatever your specific requirements. Maybe you would like to conceal the palletised contents, for example, in which case, our black opaque security film is the ideal choice. Or perhaps you're looking for stretch wrap in mini handy wrap rolls for bundling or flush and extended core hand film? It's all in stock right here, right now in a range of film thicknesses.

Bolstering the cost-effectiveness of stretch wrap still further are our jumbo machine applied stretch wrap rolls to be used in conjunction with stretch wrap machines. Our range of available machines can help your company save considerably on film cost, time and manpower. There is also our Q-Lite pre-stretch film to consider which is fast and easy to apply, safe and an easy means of reducing packaging cost. Its use also reduces overall waste whilst offering a superior load holding. With such a broad range of options available it only gives further reasoning to choose Simpson Packaging (http://www.simpson-packaging.co.uk) when you require such a vital packaging material as stretch wrap.

Choose our stretch wrap when you need to secure items to a pallet

Does your business involve the storage and transportation of large numbers of items on a pallet? If your sector of business is manufacturing, your answer is very likely to be "yes", and there can be few more cost-effective means of keeping your items secured to that pallet than stretch wrap, as we offer it in an abundance here at Simpson Packaging (http://www.simpson-packaging.co.uk).

Stretch wrap works much as its name suggests, by stretching over the items in question and wrapping around them, keeping them tightly bound and protected against unwanted movement, damage and the elements. Its elasticity is in contrast to shrink wrap, which, after being applied around the item loosely, shrinks tightly when brought into contact with a heat shrink gun.

Whether you call it stretch wrap or stretch film, it's one of the most commonly used packaging materials throughout industry, and there's a very extensive range of it here at Simpson Packaging, with clear flush and extended core hand film, black opaque security film, jumbo machine applied stretch wrap rolls and mini handy wrap bundling rolls all available.

As an alternative you may appreciate our Q-Lite Pre-Stretch film, which enables even easier and more efficient wrapping of your pallets. Due to the film not needing to be stretched unlike standard stretch wrap, whoever is applying the wrap is unlikely to suffer from as much fatigue and back strain. Load holding is also superior, with higher tear and impact resistance and packaging costs and waste are both lowered as a result of its use.

It couldn't be quicker, easier or safer to apply Q-Lite. You simply need to unwind one metre of the pre-stretched film, before tying it to the foot of the pallet. By then wrapping the film around the base of the load and pallet three or four times, you can secure the two together. You should allow a 30-50 per cent overlap as you continue wrapping around the load in an upward motion. The film should be slightly stretched when wrapping around each corner.

The wrapping can then be concluded by tearing off the roll and securing the loose end to the pallet, with the use of the palm of your hand to apply light pressure. Meanwhile, environmentally conscious companies now have the option of the Q-Lite Coreless Pre-Stretch Film, which offers more wrap per roll, with virtually no material being wasted compared to traditional rolls. There are no cardboard cores that you will need to dispose of. Instead a plastic reusable dispenser is inserted into the roll for application.

If you thought that covered all of the stretch wrap requirements that your company could possibly have, Simpson Packaging (http://www.simpson-packaging.co.uk) also offers stretch wrap machines. A range of standard core and power pre stretch wrap machines are available along with a number of accessories. For large stretch wrap dependent users you will be glad to make the switch and choose to machine wrap rather than hand wrap, given how much film, time, expense and manpower it helps you to save, and you'll be especially glad you bought all of your stretch wrap from us, industry leaders offering a friendly, professional service at very competitive prices.

The many benefits of humble stretch wrap

When your business involves the supply, storage or distribution of palletised items or products, there are so many packaging materials of the kind that Simpson Packaging (http://www.simpson-packaging.co.uk) offers that can reduce everyday stress, boost your productivity and ultimately, significantly enhance your profits. Stretch wrap however has to be the most cost effective and efficient product to use as there are very few applications where it couldn’t be used.

But what is stretch wrap? Well, it is a plastic film that is highly stretchable, making it ideal for the securing of product, boxes and many other large items for storage or transportation when palletised. Whereas its cousin, shrink wrap, is only loosely applied around an item, tightly shrinking when heat is applied, the elastic recovery of stretch wrap means that items are kept tightly and constantly bound.

Stretch wrap is one of our key products at Simpson Packaging, in a broader range of polythene products consisting of the likes of polythene bags, shrink wrap, carrier bags, polypropylene sacks and Lay Flat Tubing. Whether you refer to it as stretch wrap, pallet wrap or stretch film, our stock range has a comprehensive selection, including black opaque security film, flush and extended core hand film, mini handy wrap bundling rolls and jumbo machine applied stretch wrap rolls. Rolls are available is a number of widths and film thicknesses to suit the customer’s specific application.

We offer variations of stretch wrap that also offer other key benefits with use such as,  Q-Lite pre-stretch film that, as its name suggests, is pre-stretched, making it easier to apply. This allows for pallets to be wrapped so much more efficiently, an increase in output throughout the day and importantly causing less fatigue and back strain to the operator. Other advantages of using   Q-Lite pre-stretch film include reduced packaging costs, superior load holding, less waste and high tear and impact resistance.

Customers who rely heavily of the use of hand applied stretch wrap within their operations may wish to maximise the cost-effectiveness of using stretch wrap further. This can be done with the introduction of a stretch wrap machine, which is extremely cost effective due to the considerable savings made on time, manpower and film cost. In keeping with our aim here at Simpson Packaging to cater for every customer's need, we supply a range of standard core break and power pre-stretch machines and accessories to use with our range of machine applied stretch film rolls.

Whichever stretch wrap products, machine or accessories you choose, you can rest in the knowledge that your businesses storage and transportation of products will be so much more efficient as a consequence of its use. Products will be well protected against such environmental elements as dust, dirt and moisture, and the grouping of products onto pallets results in a more stable load, reducing the chance of movement that could lead to damage of the items and loss through theft when going through the supply chain.

Combine these advantages with competitive pricing and a truly speedy and responsive customer service, it's clear why, when so many businesses require stretch wrap, they consistently turn to Simpson Packaging (http://www.simpson-packaging.co.uk).
