How do you choose the right bathroom lighting for you?

It's easy to think that the bathroom lighting buying process is a fairly simple one, especially when you are buying yours from such a well-stocked store as Ryness Lighting and Electrical (http://www.ryness.co.uk). We have had a strong reputation for all things lighting and electrical for years, and our bathroom lighting range certainly backs this up - but the bathroom is a sacred place for many people, and if you get your choice of lighting wrong, you'll certainly notice it.

Bathrooms may be small spaces, but these only make the right choice of bathroom lighting all the more important in setting the mood. This is an area where you need to feel relaxed and private, so your chosen lighting will need to work well with the natural lighting coming in from the windows. The lighting and temperature levels in your bathroom need to be just so. In other rooms, you may be able to get away with glaring and overpowering lights, but that isn't the case in the bathroom.

Although there are many different colours and designs to choose from for bathroom lighting, the bathroom does also need to be lit properly in its entirety, so selecting the right lighting isn't just a matter of initial aesthetic tastes. Here at Ryness Lighting and Electrical, we offer the likes of bathroom ceiling lights of brushed chrome, as well as shower downlights, bathroom wall lights, above mirror shaver lights and bathroom waterproof spotlights, all helping to ensure that every corner of your bathroom is suitably bathed in light. But every bathroom is different, so you'll need to carefully consider the spot in which each light is to be placed.

When you are assessing your needs for bathroom lighting, you should consider whether lighting actually needs to be installed in certain spots. Shower areas, for example, tend to require substantial lighting, but the reflection of light by wall mirrors can help to make the rest of your bathroom that bit more intensely illuminated. You can get a sense of your bathroom lighting needs by switching on all of your present lights and noting down any issues that arise with too much, or lack of, intensity. Repeat the exercise at night, when there is no natural light.

Your existing overhead lighting may be sufficient for the bath and sink area, or there might be side shadows suggesting the need for a replacement and/or repositioning. Any lighting fixture that you use above the shower, meanwhile, should have been designed with wet environments in mind. Bear these factors in mind, and you shouldn't struggle too much with your bathroom lighting shopping here at Ryness Lighting and Electrical (http://www.ryness.co.uk) - but don't be afraid to ask our staff questions if doubts remain.
