What events await those moving to Gibraltar for the spring and summer?

The spring and summer months are a fine time to be in Gibraltar, for more than a few reasons. First of all, as you’d very much expect, the territory boasts a subtropical Mediterranean climate, so your summer here is likely to be especially warm and dry compared to what you are used to. Average high temperatures in the territory hit 29 degrees C (84 degrees F) in August. Certainly, there is no shortage of permanent attractions and activities in the area, from the historic Moorish Castle to shopping on Main Street, but today’s article isn’t about that. Spring Festival 2013

Whether you’re presently in the process of moving to Gibraltar with Indigo’s help, or you are perhaps paying a visit for research or have even completed your move already, there’s still time to enjoy many of the events of the 2013 Spring Festival, which runs until 20^th June.

Why not pay a visit to the free Spring Art Exhibition, for example, which runs from 23^rd May until 7^th June? Or maybe you’ve got your eye on the 30^th May Celebration of Opera, which takes place at St Michael’s Cave and is organised by the Gibraltar Philharmonic Society? Other must-see events include the Spring Fest Acoustic Night on 31^st May and the ‘Pink Floyd Tribute’ rock concert, due to be held at the Ince’s Hall Theatre on 7^th June.

The Gib Fringe

2013 also sees the running of the 1^st Gibraltar Fringe Festival, which will take place at the Alameda Botanic Gardens between 20^th and 23^rd June. It will be a feast of cultural opportunity for Gibraltar residents, with theatre performances, music, dance, busking, street performances, children’s shows and even an exhibition of arts all set to be held on a daily basis in the Alameda Open Air
Theatre.

In-between performances, meanwhile, there will be opportunities to enjoy walk acts and workshops in the Gardens.

Gibraltar Darts Trophy

Many people move to Gibraltar to sample the sporting action, and the Gibraltar Darts Trophy is a great example of that. Watch 64 players compete for the £20,000 first prize in the £100,000 European Tour event that runs from Friday 28^th June to Sunday 30^th June in the Victoria Stadium. Various tickets and hotel packages are now available, so even if you haven’t completed your move just yet, the opportunity remains to get on a jet and experience it all for yourself.
