Film shines new light on luxury Marbella villas

The owners of Marbella villas are used to being the envy of the world, and that won't change with the news that another film is to be based in the city. Spanish director Santi Amodeo has announced his fifth film, Me, my wife and my dead wife, a tale of death and mystery that will be shot in the UK and Marbella. The story centres around the dying wish of a British woman to have her ashes scattered in the Spanish municipality.

Such a request was completely unknown by her husband, and is a source of confusion given that the couple had never even visited Marbella previously. Nonetheless, on discovering his beloved's final wish, the 70 year old man who had otherwise intended to bury her in the local cemetery instead embarks on a journey uncovering her Marbella past. Amodeo revealed that his "first aim was to film in Marbella", so that attention could be drawn to the area's many opulent and exclusive villas, some rarely seen by those without a seven figure salary.

The Seville director is clearly a fan of Marbella, claiming that the big-budget film would reveal the "luxurious Marbella with its marvellous scenes that usually people don't get to see." Nor will it be his first experience of filming on the Costa del Sol, having previously done so on many occasions in places like Torremolinos and La Cala. He said that the decision had been made for the film's main character to be British, and that the actor would "be a star".

There are always fine properties becoming available to buy or rent in Marbella, with just one of those recently being the 5.6 million Euro Costa del Sol mansion presented by Purple Rain singer Prince as a gift to his former wife. That lady in question was Mayte Garcia, who he married on Valentine's Day 1996. Covering some 890 square metres and boasting such features as an immense imperial staircase, spectacular chandelier, eleven bedrooms and a heated outdoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi, the property isn't exactly the most attainable in Marbella.

Nonetheless, it does indicate just how luxurious accommodation in this part of the Costa del Sol can be. What's more, many much less expensive Marbella penthouses, apartments and villas can be found in the area by those enlisting the help of a leading real estate agency like Marbella Dream Living.
